Largemouth Bass:
Another water level drop of five feet has most of the Bass heading back to deeper water. The full moon did little to nothing in the way of spawning as most of the fish are roaming the coves following bait fish. Crankbaits, underspins and Flukes are good on the reaction bait side in the dirtier water towards Elizabeth Canyon. 5″ Black with blue flake wacky rigged Senkos, drop shots and Carolina rigs are working in the clearer water areas. Fish are on most rocky areas including bluffs and points. There is some fish busting Shad in the backs of coves in skinny water early that are catchable on buzzbaits and small swimbaits.
Striped Bass:
Trolling with Yak Flies on leadcore line is getting bites in open water and the mouths of the bigger coves. Most of the fish are on the smaller side with a few bigger fish mixed in. Casting white Flukes on 1/4 oz. ball head jigs will get you into some bigger fish if you can locate them around and in the bigger coves.
Lagoon:
The good fishing continues for Bass in the one to four pound class. Anglers throwing small swimbaits and flukes are getting bit by some quality fish to four pounds, mostly in the afternoon. Carolina rigs and drop shot C3 Baits Shimmys and Ice Picks are as good as any on the finesse plastics side of the bite.
Water conditions:
Surface temp: 67 – 69 degrees
Good clarity to 15′ in the Ski Arm
Stained to dirty water in the Fish Arm
