Largemouth Bass:

Good Bass fishing for mostly smaller fish. Ghost pattern C3 Flukensteins, hard jerkbaits like the Lucky Craft Pointer or Megabass Vision in the smaller sizes and live Shad are still the main techniques. Smallmouth remain very active and are dominating the fish counts as of late. Go deeper as the morning progresses, up to 30′ for the bigger Largemouth. Try dropshot rigs and Texas rigged Senkos or C3 Slim Pros rigged with a small bullet weight and a 3/0 worm hook.

Striped Bass:

Surface “boils” were available until mid-week when monsoon cloud cover reduced the boils to a simmer. Most of the schools are in the main-lake areas like just outside of the marina, the Jet Ski buoy line and up near the forebay in the Ski Arm. Major cove entrances on the South side of the Fish Arm are getting boils when the wind starts blowing around 9 or 10. Keep moving until you see other boats out in deep water, a dead giveaway that they’re on Stripers. The best topwater baits this week were the Lucky Craft Sammy 100 in Ghost Shad or Aurora Black, Lucky Craft Gunfish 100’s in the same patterns, and pearl white Super Flukes.

Bluegill:

No change. Bluegills continue to provide fast action in the shallow ends of coves like Dry Gulch, Hawks Nest, Utopia and Old SS around brushpiles and overhanging trees. A bobber and a red worm is all you need. Great fun for the kids.
