Largemouth Bass:

Good Bass fishing again this week with white Flukes, smaller hard jerkbaits and live Shad accounting for most of the catches. Coves on the East and South sides of both arms are holding fish along with main-lake rocky areas. Look for areas that have the wind blowing into them as the water is very clear and the Bass tend to bite better when they aren’t as visible to the baitfish. Smallmouth are very active and can be caught on just about any popular technique.

Striped Bass: A good week for surface “boils” in the main-lake areas. Just outside of the marina, the area around Kong Island, up near the forebay buoy line and Center Point have seen big schools of fish from day to day. In the Fish Arm there have been a few schools around the entrances of Hawk’s Nest and Old SS coves. Keep moving until you see other boats out in deep water, they’re not Bass fishing! Fish are hitting most topwater baits as well as white Flukes, however each school of fish and sometimes individual fish will bite one style of lure and nothing else. It can be frustrating at times. The best bet is to have two or three rods rigged with different lures to try in each boil opportunity.

Bluegill:

Bluegills continue to provide fast action in the shallow ends of coves like Dry Gulch, Hawks Nest, Utopia and Old SS around brushpiles and overhanging trees.      A bobber and a red worm is all you need. Great fun for the kids.
