Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:
Temps around 90 degrees over last weekend had most of the Bass headed to the shoreline in pre-spawn mode. Unfortunately the water gods decided to treat the lake with bluestone fungicide on Tuesday which clouded up the shoreline and made the fish retreat to deeper water in most areas. Rain, drizzle and temps in the 50’s the rest of the week didn’t help much either. The water is clear again and the good fishing should resume even with storms rolling in all of this coming week. Most of the Largemouth and Smallmouth are averaging one to two pounds but some bigger females made up the weights in a NBW tournament held yesterday. C3 Baits Shimmy’s and Ridgeback Reapers in the Neptune Shad and oxblood patterns fished on the Carolina rig and dropshot continue to get bit as well as an improving Senko bite around secondary points, deeper water bluffs and transition areas.
Striped Bass:
Still slow but should ramp up as soon as we get some stable weather. The baitfish are moving shallower every week and are currently in the 30′ range on main points. If you find a school that is in the bait balls feeding you can get them to bite with a vertically jigged Krocodile, flutter spoon or Rapala Ice Jig. Better days ahead for sure.
Rainbow Trout:
A recent stocking resulted in good shore fishing until the lake got bluestoned. Most of these fished have dispersed from the stocking area and should be in shallow water around the lake for the next month or two.
