Lake Piru Fish Report   05-12-2024

Largemouth Bass and Crappie:

Good Bass fishing this week as the fish are starting to transition to the Summer pattern. Dropshot and Texas rigged purple worms fished in two to ten feet of water are still accounting for the most bites. Topwater poppers like the Rebel Pop-R 70 in the bone color are starting to produce in the morning low-light period as well. Wacky rigged Senkos fished off the main and secondary points along with Squarebill crankbaits fished thru the shallow brush and limbs are also putting fish in the boat.

Crappie are hitting in deeper water near coves. Look for Shad Schools and birds diving in open water. Small 2″ swimbaits or mini jigs in white are getting the attention of fish averaging one pound with a few bigger fish in the count.

Lake Conditions:

Water Clarity  2-5′
