Lake Piru Fish Report   05-04-2024

Largemouth Bass and Crappie:

Fair to good Bass fishing on tap most days with mostly smaller fish and the occasional one to three pounder mixed in. The majority of the fish are being caught on Dropshot and Texas rigged purple worms fished in two to ten feet of water on secondary points and stretches of rocky shoreline. Texas and Wacky rigged Senkos in green pumpkin are also producing some good fish. Squarebill crankbaits fished thru the shallow brush and limbs are also putting fish in the boat.

I have done best with smaller chartreuse colored baits with a black back. Crappie are available in the mouths of the small coves, following the Shad Schools in open water. Small 2″ swimbaits or mini jigs in white will get a few bites on fish averaging one pound and bigger.
