Castaic Lake Report 07-09-2023

Largemouth Bass:

Not much of a change this week as the bigger fish are hard to come by. A Big Bass Trail tournament on Saturday saw only three keepers weighed in, with the biggest fish being three pounds. Lots of smaller Bass starting to migrate to the backs of coves, providing some topwater action early in the day. Otherwise, the usual finesse plastics are getting bit in the ten to twenty foot zone.

Striped Bass:

The Stripers have been making a showing, boiling on baitfish mostly in the main lake. One to two pound fish still dominate the counts with a few bigger models being caught underneath the surface schools in the twenty foot depth zone. Trolling with Yak flies on lead core line is a great way to add some of the bigger fish to your count. The area outside of Elizabeth Canyon in the Fish Arm is a good place to start.

Lake Conditions:

Water clarity – 5 to 10′ in most areas

Surface temp – 75 degrees
