Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass:

The Summer pattern continues as fish are being caught anywhere from 5′ to 35′ deep. Extended main lake points have been consistent, especially when the wind is blowing on them. There are also fish in the backs of some coves and are most active in low light conditions. We are fishing live Shad every day, as the big 3 to 4 inch baits are consistently producing awesome surface strikes and an excellent angling experience on light tackle.

Striped Bass:

Fly-coring with a Producer Fly is becoming more consistent and the bigger Stripers are starting to show in better numbers. Elizabeth Canyon and the East end of the fish arm in front of Utopia are good places to start. In the ski arm, the area around Kong Island and up by the forebay buoy line have been good as well. When the wind blows from the SW in these areas it concentrates the food chain and provides a good feeding opportunity. There has been some surface action, mainly in the last hour of the day, in the West ramp area and below Eucalyptus Point.

Castaic Afterbay:

Working the dropoffs and deeper water in the South end with the typical C3 Baits soft plastics will get you some quality bites. The North end weedbeds are coming to the surface and a steady topwater bite should emerge as the summer pattern continues. Bluegill are in the weeds as  well and can be caught on mini jigs tipped with meal worms or red worms.
