Castaic Lake Report 06-21-2026

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:

The lake is full and the bulk of the action is still happening deeper, in the fifteen to thirty foot range. Dropshot rigs and light line Carolina rigs continue to produce both numbers and quality bites. Topwater and reaction baits like hard and soft jerkbaits and crankbaits are starting to get the attention of Bass that are in various stages of postspawn activity. Bait Merchant designed C3 Baits Prototype Worms in the Neptune Shad and Purple Haze color patterns were my number one dropshot bait this week, along with a  wacky rigged C3 Baits Slim Pro in the Cinnamon color hue. The bigger Shad are holding in ten to twenty feet of water, getting closer to the backs of the major coves. Although the terrible algae bloom has diminished, the lake is scheduled to be treated with Copper Sulfate (Bluestoning) this coming Friday which should clear up the water completely. There is no launching until 2 pm on that day.

Striped Bass:

Still  basically a no show as of yet, other than the random blow up or cut sardine bite.
