Castaic Lake Report 05-24-2026

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:

As the lake continues to fill, most of the good bites are a little deeper, in the ten to twenty five foot range. Dropshot rigs and light line Carolina rigs have been most productive along with wacky rigged 5″ Daiwa Neko Fat worms in the green pumpkin/black flake or natural shad color profiles. The Bait Merchant designed C3 Baits Prototype Worm in the Neptune Shad color and the C3 Baits Ice Pick in the same color are once again the standard offerings. Shad are in spawning mode which should ignite a topwater bite in the coming weeks if not days.

Striped Bass:

Striper schools are getting shallower by the day, but still not boiling on baitfish. The inevitable Summer bite will probably show in the coming weeks once the lake stabilizes. Looks like some spawning might have begun in the last few days.
