Castaic Lake Report 05-10-2026

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:

Hardly any changes in techniques as most of the changes have to do with water and lake conditions. The lake is finally filling up and as it does, it repositions the fish that were shallow to the deeper dropoffs and ledges. Dropshot and Carolina rigs fished in the twenty foot zone was the best pattern for me this week. Wacky rigged 5″ stickbaits flylined around the first dropoffs nearest the shoreline also got bites early and late in the day. Hard jerkbaits like Lucky Craft Staysee 90’s and MegaBass Vision 110’s are starting to get some of the post-spawn fish that are feeding again. The Shad are getting shallower by the day but won’t likely spawn until the water stops rising in the near future.

Striped Bass:

Striper schools are getting shallower and are being seen in some of the coves in deeper water, most likely following the Shad schools looking to spawn. Everything is lining up for another great Summer of topwater action.

Rainbow Trout:

A few of the Trout that were stocked for the Kids Day are still showing up for shore anglers, but the bite is slower every day.
