Castaic Lake Report 02-22-2026

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:

Winter finally arrived in full force this week with morning air temps in the low 30’s, heavy rain, and snow on the surrounding mountain tops. Needless to say not many anglers got out during the week, but the sun did come out going into the weekend. The bluebird skies and post front winds slowed what was a good bite on finesse plastics on a dropshot or Carolina rig. The twenty to thirty foot zone did produce decent numbers of Bass on secondary points and rocky areas in some of the coves, mostly in the Fish Arm as the Ski Arm took the brunt of the high winds. Largemouth, Smallmouth and a few Trout found their way to anglers nets with four to six inch straight tail worms and C3 Baits Slim Pro’s in just about any of the popular colors on a dropshot or Carolina rig.

Striped Bass:

Same as last week. Not much of a report yet but there are some Stripers in the five to ten pound range being caught incidentally while Bass fishing.

Rainbow Trout:

Slow fishing for what few fish remain after the last stocking in the West Ramp area
