Largemouth Bass:

Not much of a change since last week. Lots of weather moved thru the area keeping most anglers off the water. The anglers that did get out found a decent bite on finesse plastics, either on a dropshot or splitshot rig worked slowly in the 20′ to 40′ zone. The hot bait this week was the C3 Baits Shimmy in the new Scuppernong color. It seems to get bites when everything else fails. There are still a few fish hitting crankbaits in the morning and afternoon hours.

Striped Bass:

Despite multiple Trout plants this month the bigger fish have been slow to show. Most of the Stripers are still in deep water between 50′ and 100′. Rapala ice jigs, tailspinners and jigging spoons are getting a few bites but overall the fishing is slow. Deep-water trolling with umbrella rigs, Kastmasters and Producer flies has been effective during small windows of feeding activity. This bite should improve as the water temp bottoms out and gets steady.

Castaic Afterbay:

There has been a pretty good bite on Crappie and Bass with small jigs and spoons worked in deep water. Use your sonar to locate the deep schools of bait fish and you’ll find the game fish.
