Castaic Lake Report 10/11/26
Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:
This report is a compilation from posts that I read during the week while I was up in the Sierra’s on vacation. Thanks to John and Andrew Petroski from C3 Baits for giving me some valuable updates on the fishing.
While the Bass are still munching on the abundant Shad, there is a developing bite on dropshot plastics fished shallow on bluff walls on the main lake. As usual for this time of year, the C3 Baits Slim Pro or Jobu rigged on a dropshot accounted for some quality and quantity. Cinnamon was the best color for the Slim Pro and Neptune Shad for the Jobu.
Striped Bass
Increased surface action in some of the coves as the Stripers start pushing the baitfish towards the shoreline. Just about any of the usual lures will work during the agressive feeding frenzy. Espetit 95’s, Lucky Craft Gunfish 95’s and C3 Baits Flukensteins will all work. Color is not very important, white or Shad patterns are perfect.
